Melbourne Inner CITY
I've been a professional performer for most of my life - as a dancer, singer and an actress. Like many in the performing arts, I've also turned my hand to other pursuits - working in the travel industry, in fashion and in administration. So I've built up a really extensive and diverse skill set that enables me to bring to my role as your marriage celebrant, a wealth of life experience and the ability to both listen and communicate effectively.
Performing Funerals of memorable note for some 17 years; presenting and honouring the uniqueness of each life, with frankness, honesty and character!
Let the memories of what we have had in our lives, soften the pain of what we now no longer have!
Over the years, I have worn a few hats in my time - as an artist, writer, performer, teacher, administrator, coordinator and manager. Now I have chosen to specialise in life celebrations. I've had great times interacting with many audiences as a performer, musician and mistress of ceremonies.
As a community artist and coordinator, I have been privileged to work creatively with people from all walks of life and have engaged with diverse communities.
As a writer, my pursuits have included poetry, songs, short story, feature articles, and script for theatre, radio and screen.
I was born. I grew up. I became a celebrant. Life is good.
I have a background of event management, advertising and law, and spend much of my time working with our local and school communities. I am a mum to a couple of wonderful and busy children, and have recently taken up study again, venturing into the field of Psychology, a lifelong dream.
I am a mother of 3, grandmother of 3, a registered civil celebrant, trained nurse, midwife and childbirth educator. I trained as a nurse and midwife in England and moved to Singapore in 1980. There I founded my own health education centre called Birth & Beyond in 1985 and quickly became a leader in the field of childbirth education and parenting.
I spent over 24 years educating, supporting, empowering and inspiring women and their partners through pregnancy, birth and beyond in Singapore and Indonesia. Widowed in 1996, I followed my children to Melbourne in 2004 and now live in Ashburton, Victoria.
I have a background in communication skills and public speaking, working closely with a variety of people in many different walks of life. This enables me to create your ceremony which is unique to you and your circumstances. I like to give back to the community and volunteer at Epworth Hospital one day a week. My husband was well cared for there and it’s my way of saying ‘thank you’.
I have been a Civil Marriage Celebrant since 2008 and live in Melbourne, Victoria. This vocation seemed to be a natural progression for me as I love meeting new people, getting to know them and helping them to achieve their goals.
Before I made the decision 9 years ago to become a Celebrant my background was as a Personal Assistant to my husband (who now works for me as my roadie!). For many years I have also been involved in TV/Media and print and have confidence in public speaking.
I knew I wanted to be a Celebrant after delivering the Eulogy for my father's funeral and later doing a reading at the wedding of my eldest daughter. My organisational skills and calm nature allow me to 'think on the spot' and not become stressed about any unforeseen events. I am truly passionate about my role as a Celebrant.
