Memories

When I have slipped into the past,
I’d like you to recall Not the deeds I won or lost, not that way at all
I’d like you to remember, all the love I shared with you
A love that started tender, a love so young and true
You found me, I was just a child, emerging into woman
You taught me love, strange and strong, surely made in heaven
You guided and encouraged me, you showed me what was best
And I in turn, gave you my dreams - from my treasure chest

A mother wife, a lover true, you wanted all of me
Each passing year I focused on - who I should really be
Our life, our home, our children, they filled my every scheme
And you were there - my cornerstone, in every plan and scene
Photographs that we compiled - there’s stories on every page
Our life thus captured lovingly, if memories ever fade
For those we love can never be - more than a thought apart
And we belong, you and me - so keep me close in your heart
