I miss you ....

When I think of you, I remember so many things
A rain-washed street, a book, a fireplace
A comfy chair to rest
Photos abound of green hills and vales
Planned holidays or trips
A welcome at the station
Those journeys home - the best
I see a simple table laid, with candles lit for two
Food and wine - fit for the Gods
It seemed so right with you
As summer fades, and winter calls
Winds roar through the night
Your armchair is still my ‘welcome home’
Your slippers red and bright
When evening falls, and night descends
Darkness then curtains my nest
I close my eyes on pillow warm
A place my head to rest
But you invade my every dream
And softly sing ‘our song’
I miss you.......
