Peter Norden AO

Celebrant background: My professional work has been in the social justice and human rights field. At present I am attached to RMIT University and have an office there in Swanston Street. My training has been in Social Work and Criminology and I am also completing a Masters Degree in Human Rights Law. I am interested in building a more cohesive Australian society. I think this can be done by better planning and building greater social, cohesion. I am located in Bentleigh in the Bayside area but also have a cabin up at Jamieson, which is not far from Mansfield.
Why I'm a celebrant:

Being a civil celebrant is really a part time activity for me and when I am engaged by a couple I can give them as much personal assistance as they require.

I only ever conduct one wedding a week end whereas some celebrants may conduct two or even three weddings in one day!

I enjoy helping engaged couples plan their wedding and I make sure that their marriage ceremony is simple honest and an enjoyable experience.

Treasured memories:

I have conducted marriages now for more than 30 years, and I really enjoy meeting up with couples I may have married in earlier years and to see their children growing up.

I travel to Europe most Melbourne winters and I enjoyed mountain trekking in New Zealand too.

In 2007 I was made an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) for my services to the community and that was a special recognition which I treasured.
