My passions include travelling Australia during the wedding season lull. My husband and I love 4WD'ing and getting into the outback and remote areas of our beautiful country.
I am a strong advocate of marriage equality.
I chose to become a civil marriage celebrant five years ago after a long career in education in three states or territories - SA, NT and ACT. I always loved celebrating life's milestone moments - the achivements and graduations that are part of school life. Being able to solemnise marriages and conduct life ceremonies seemed a natural progression from my first career.
My goal is to design and implement ceremonies which are personal, meaningful and memorable. I have learnt so much from the couples I have married and the families I've come into contact with. I thought about uploading another photo, but I just love this picture of the very first couple I married - Junhua and Huan.
One aspect I enjoy most about the different roles I have performed, is working with other people collectively achieving our goals and learning new things along the way.
I've been a civil celebrant for five very rewarding years after a long career in education. While I have done significantly more marriages than funerals I have found it a priviledge to work with families at the time of the passing of a loved one. Because it is a hard time to get through, I find the best ways I can help are:
- designing the funeral ceremony or memorial to honour the loved one,
- following the wishes of family members,
- being strong so as to be a support for others,
- helping design the program or order of service,
- working closely with funeral directors,
- suggesting readings
- leaving participants with the feeling that they know the deceased a little better and have really been part of a celebration of life.
I am a mature woman who has been blessed to be married to the love of my life for many years. I was born and raised in a small town in NZ and moved to Australia just over 20 years ago. I have three adult children who are making their own way in the world and am blessed to have grandchildren to spoil.
My working experience includes a long period of time involved in customer service, mediation and dispute resolution, I hold a Certificate IV in Customer Contact and am also a Justice of the Peace.
I chose to undertake Certficate IV in Celebrancy and make further application to become a celebrant. I wished to have a different interaction with members of my community and work with individuals and couples, and strive to make their occasion special and memorable.
My love of weddings came about when my daughters all got married at different
times and I was so excited about helping them plan their day.
Lived through the "Rearing a Family" of Three, from Tots to Teens, Education and Individualism, and beyond, plus divorce, and the "Re-training of and for Life"
I do ceremonies in the ACT and also within 1 hours drive of Canberra.
